Hi everyone, today’s post is different from past ones. I wanted to share a big professional update - I have joined defy.vc as their newest General Partner!
I’m excited to work alongside the Defy team to support the next generation of incredible founders and category defining companies.
What will I be focusing on?
I’ll be investing from inception through Series A. From day 0 to product market fit. I’d love to meet founders as early as before they’ve landed on an idea.
In terms of sectors, I’ll still be spending time looking at fintech and vertical saas (of course!) but will also invest in marketplaces, healthcare, and climate tech.
Why Defy?
There’s so much more to this question than I can cover here but 3 things really stick out:
The extreme founder focus - Everyone at defy has been a founder before, at least once if not several times, and empathizes deeply with the entrepreneurial journey. They’re laser focused on supporting their founders to help them build generational businesses.
Teamwork - Venture investing can be a solo sport, and it is at most firms. I personally think it’s best done as a team. Everyone at defy is extremely collaborative, supportive and works with every founder as a true team, bringing the best of their experience and networks to the relationship.
Incredible references - I spoke to founders, investors, and many other people in the broader defy network. They were glowing! I’ve rarely heard such consistent and positive feedback on a group of people - not only about their professional accomplishments, but more importantly, about how genuinely great people they are.
Excited for this next adventure! I’m thankful for all the friendships and learnings over 7 years at Redpoint Ventures & thank you to Connie Loizos, StrictlyVC & Techcrunch for helping share the news. More here if you’re interested in hearing my full interview with Connie!
As always, please reach out if you’re working on something new or just want to catch up! I’ll be back to my normal content soon. If you have any topics or areas you’d like me to cover, I’m always all ears!
wonderful
Go Medha!
